Letter to our Members

We wanted to begin by saying thank you for your patience – we know that by this time of year Ski Club registration is typically in full swing, but, of course, this is a far from normal year. The Ski Club board has been working hard to develop an operational plan that prioritizes safety above all else, while still being able to open our doors this season.

This has been a time-consuming process as it has required input from Mount Snow, Vail Resorts, and the State of Vermont. There are many moving parts and many, many considerations, and we are working hard to outline a well-thought out and comprehensive plan. We are making progress and feel confident our plan is consistent with the goals Mount Snow has set out for the season – safety first in order to protect members, and to stay open for the entire season.

The good news is Mount Snow Ski Club will operate this season. What this looks like, however, may be a far departure from anything our members may be used to or are expecting. Based on all the discussions and consultations we had and as well as the current guidelines from both Mount Snow and the State of Vermont, below is an idea of what you can expect.

What we should be able to offer:

1. Family lockers will be available to those members who currently rent one.

2. Bathrooms will be available.

3. Day storage and the opportunity to quickly boot up/get dressed will be provided.

4. We will be monitoring flow in and out of the building, and making sure members are not lingering – you are expected to keep your time in the building brief.

5. We will have an established and appropriate cleaning protocol, proper sanitization, and improved airflow and ventilation throughout the building.

6. Our clubhouse will be set up and organized to promote social distancing, limited co-mingling and exposure points. Things definitely will not look the same inside!

7. Members will enter and exit through specific points and all other doors will not be available for use.

8. We will be tracking occupancy – if the number of people in the building exceeds the number mandated by the State of Vermont, entry to others will be prohibited until space becomes available.

What we will NOT be able to offer this season:

1. There will be no use of the kitchen. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and microwaves will NOT be provided.

2. No socializing or using the club to hang out. You may get dressed, drop your bag, grab your gear, go to the bathroom, and that’s about it. No drinking coffee, eating lunch, coming in to warm up, or using the lounge to nap or work.

3. We will not be offering competitor memberships and any child who is part of a family membership must be accompanied by an adult family member at all times.

4. The tuning room will be closed this season (however we are currently looking into providing tuning services; more details to follow on that).

5. Given the capacity limitations we will need to follow, we will not be able to accommodate guest this season.

We understand this is a drastically pared down version of what the club has been like the past several years. These were not easy decisions, but we are confident that they meet the goals of being able to operate the club in some capacity, following the guidelines established by Mount Snow and the State of Vermont, and most importantly keeping our members as safe as possible.

In the next few weeks we will provide further details on our operating plan as well as opening the registration process. And as we get closer to opening day (November 14th for passholders!), we will continue to roll out all the necessary specifics to help you clearly navigate this (temporary) adaptation of club services and building use.

In the meantime, if anyone has any questions, please be in touch and we will do our best to clarify.

Regards,

MSSC Board
